Ziele/Aims The students will gain experience in molecular biology, zebrafish embryological technics and in documenting results on microscopes.
Inhalte/Content The biological context of the work is cell fate specification and migration using zebrafish germ cells as an accessible in vivo model. The module includes experiments analyzing the effects of specific manipulations of embryos on cell migration and development. The manipulations include over-expression and knock down of specific genes by antisense oligonucleotides and RNA injections respectively.
Methoden/Methods The evaluation of the phenotype involves various techniques including standard fluorescence as well as confocal microscopy for monitoring cell behavior in the context of the live embryo (generation of time-lapse movies).
