Ziele/Aims |
Hematopoiesis is the development of all blood cells from the hematopoietic stem cell. This development is tightly regulated and disruption of this regulation leads to the development of leukemia. Hematopoiesis is often used as a model system to decipher general principles of cellular differentiation as well of gene regulation and cancer development. The aim of the module is to achieve a theoretical and experimental understanding of the hematopoietic system, leukemia development and the techniques used to investigate these. |
Inhalte/Content |
Cellular and molecular studies of hematopoietic stem cells, hematopoietic development and leukemia development are current research projects. |
Methoden/Methods |
In the lab both research with transgene- and knockout-mice are used along with state-of-the-art molecular techniques such as next generation sequencing to answer our research questions. |
